How to Replace Cartridge(s)
- Open the ink cartridge cover.
- Push the lock release lever, and then take the used ink cartridge out of the printer.
- Get the new ink cartridge and take it out of the bag.
- Rotate the green release lever on the orange protective packing clockwise for the vacuum seal to be released. Then, remove the orange protective packing.
- Insert the new ink cartridge into the correct slot.
- Gently push the cartridge until you hear an audible click.
- Repeat steps 2 to 6 to replace other color ink cartridges.
- Close the ink cartridge cover.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still continue printing even if my Brother MFC-J425W tells me to replace one of the ink cartridges?
Yes. You can still finish the last print job because the cartridge still has a small amount of ink left in it. Just make sure to replace it before it gets totally depleted to prevent air from drying out, which can eventually lead to printhead assembly damage.
