Frequently Asked Questions

What to do if my Canon PIXMA MG5500 is not printing in black even with a full black ink cartridge?

If you recently replaced the old black cartridge on your Canon PIXMA MG5500 yet it does not print black, it could mean that the orange protective tape is still on the cartridge, preventing the ink flow. Remove the cartridge and peel off the orange tape until the Y-shape air hole is exposed. Once done, insert the cartridge back into the printer.

Why am I getting blurred printed output even after replacing all the ink cartridges?

If print results are blurred, chances are your printer has clogged printhead nozzles. Try running a nozzle check to confirm if the nozzles are indeed clogged. If yes, then do a printhead cleaning.

What is the difference between the pigment ink and the dye ink?

The dye ink is the standard ink used in inkjet printers such as the Canon PIXMA MG5500. It consists of colorant that is fully dissolved and suspended in liquid. The pigment ink, on the other hand, consists of a very fine powder of solid colorant particles suspended in a liquid carrier.
