How To Replace Cartridge

  1. Lift the scanner. Press the cover release and open the top cover of the printer. (NOTE: If the printer has been powered on, the fuser might be hot. Do not touch it.)
  2. If you are replacing an original cartridge that came with the printer, pull the colored toner release lever towards the front of the printer and stop at the upright position.
  3. If you are replacing a cartridge that did not come with the printer, pull the colored toner release lever all the way towards the front of the printer.
  4. Lift the right end of the cartridge and pull it out towards the right. Do not touch the green image drum surface.
  5. Remove the new cartridge from its box and shake it several times. Remove the wrapping and peel off the adhesive tape.
  6. With the colored lever to the right, lower the new cartridge into the printer over the drum unit. Insert the left end first, pushing it against the spring and then lower the right end.
  7. Press down on the cartridge and push the colored lever towards the rear of the printer. This will lock the cartridge into place and release toner into the drum unit.
  8. Close the top cover of the printer and press down so it latches closed. Gently lower the scanner.
