How To Replace Cartridge
To replace the old toner cartridge on the HP LaserJet 8100, follow the 8 steps below:
- Open the top cover of the printer.
- Grasp the used toner cartridge at the middle and gently pull it out toward you.
- Get the new toner cartridge and remove it from the packaging.
- Give the new cartridge a few shakes from side to side to distribute the toner evenly.
- Find the sealing tape tab at the end of the cartridge.
- Pull the tab until the entire length of the protective tape is removed.
- Insert the new cartridge into the printer and push it until it locks into place.
- Close the printer’s top cover.

No. A ‘TONER LOW’ message simply serves as a warning that the cartridge is nearing the end of its life. You can still continue printing with a ‘TONER LOW’ message—just remove the toner cartridge from the printer and shake it from side to side to distribute the remaining toner evenly.
