How to Replace Cartridge(s)

  1. Turn your printer off and lift up its top cover.
  2. Take your old toner cartridge and drum unit out of the printer. To release the old cartridge, push down the green-labeled lock lever.
  3. Slide the drum's green tab from left to right several times to help clean the primary corona.
  4. Take your new cartridge out of its bag and shake it from side to side to distribute the ink. Then, pull off its protective cover.
  5. Place the new cartridge into the drum unit. You should hear it lock into place.
  6. Slide the drum unit with the new cartridge into your printer. Note that your new cartridge should match the color label of the new printer.
  7. Close the top cover of your printer and turn the machine back on.

Do I need to replace all the ink colors of my Brother HL-3040CN?

Your printer's LCD screen will display which color you need to replace. If it says your black ink is running low but there is no warning for the other colors, then you only need to replace your black ink. The same goes for cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges.

 

I'm interested in the 4-pack combo. How can I store it properly?
