- Fixed one Problem! - Brother DR520 Compatible Laser Drum Unit 0 people found this helpfulI was having a problem with a pattern of black ink coming out on each sheet. For personal items this didn't matter too much but was not attractive. I don't know how long I have been using the old drum but when I installed the new drum with the old ink toner cartridge I had been using, my problem was fixed! No more black edges. It did not fix the other issue I am having with occasional creases occurring during printing, but I think that when I spend time really fanning through the stack of new sheets before I put them in, it really helps. So if you are having that problem, it is not the drum. I suspect something is wearing out, but try bending the stack of paper in both directions, tapping it on the side of the stack on a hard surface in both directions and fanning through before putting it in the paper tray. Maybe it is a cheap paper or thickness issue. I found Carrot Ink to be prompt and easy to work with.
