How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Follow these steps to replace the toner cartridge on the Brother MFC-8700:

  1. Open the front cover of the printer.
  2. Get the drum unit assembly out of the printer.
  3. Press down the lock lever on the right side of the printer.
  4. Pull the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
  5. Remove the new toner cartridge from its protective bag.
  6. Lightly rock the cartridge back to back five or six times to spread the toner inside the cartridge evenly.
  7. Remove the protective cover out of the cartridge.
  8. Insert the new toner cartridge into the printer until you hear a click.
  9. Clean the primary corona wire by lightly sliding the blue tab from back to back.
  10. Close the front cover.
